Meet A. Harold "Hal" Kokes, Attorney-at-Law

I have been practicing law in New Jersey since 1981. After clerking for the Hon. Merrit J. Lane, A.J.S.C.; Hon. Julia L. Ashbey, J.A.D. t/a, J.S.C. and Hon. Burton L. Fundler, J.S.C., I became an Assistant Deputy Public Defender with the State of New Jersey, Office of the Public Defender (Atlantic Region). I then became an Associate Trial Lawyer for Cape May County's oldest Law Firm, Loveland, Garrett, Russell and Young, before establishing a partnership in 1989. Since 1992, I have been Certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Certified Criminal Trial Attorney. For the past twenty-one years, I have owned my solo practice in Ocean City, New Jersey.

I am honest and personable. With over thirty-five years experience serving the Jersey Shore Bench and Bar, I personally handle each client's file and keep each client notified at all times of any and all issues that may arise in their matters by supplying them with copies of all documents, letters, etc. If the need arises, I am available after hours and on weekends. I have an extremely competent staff which includes my Office Manager, Diane; my Administrative Assistant, Lew; and my Legal Assistant, Tracy.

My office location is convenient for both Cape May and Atlantic Counties. I frequently appear in all Courts in the Southern half of New Jersey; however, I have experience in nearly all Superior Courts in New Jersey.

I have Federal Trial experience, both Criminal and Civil. I have handled hundreds of Superior Court Criminal matters, including Trials; Civil Litigation, including Trials; Municipal Court Traffic and Criminal matters; Family Court matters, which include my ever-growing Domestic Violence, Divorce and Custody practice, as well as Juvenile Delinquency matters.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my Family, which includes my Wife, six children and my Granddaughters; reading, going to the beach, coaching lacrosse, snowboarding, skiing, and other outdoor activities.
